Eleos Foundation 2008- 2009 Scholarship Program

Thank you for your interest in the 2008-2009 Eleos Foundation Scholarship Program. The Eleos Foundation is committed to increasing access to health and education in communities challenged by severe poverty. Scholarships are available to international students from the Global South who are accepted and eligible to be enrolled in a Pacifica Graduate Institute degree program.

Scholarship funds are applied directly toward tuition and residential/nonresidential fees 1 and therefore have no cash value. They are awarded for one year and may be renewed annually through the reapplication process. The number of new Scholarships available may vary from year to year. Current Scholarship recipients are given preference when they reapply. Scholarship recipients must remain enrolled full-time (minimum 6 units) in a Pacifica Graduate Institute degree program and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average throughout the period of the Scholarship award or the Scholarship will be cancelled. If your Scholarship is cancelled due to unacceptable academic standing, you may submit a written request for Scholarship reinstatement to the Eleos Foundation once your cumulative grade point average increases to the required 3.0.

New and renewal Scholarship application materials must be completed and returned with supporting documentation to the Eleos Foundation. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered. To qualify you must complete the following:

  • New applicants must be accepted to a Pacifica Graduate Institute program by August 1, 2008
  • New scholarship applicants who are accepted to a Pacifica Graduate Institute program after August 1, 2008, but no later than 15 days before classes begin in the first quarter of enrollment, will be considered in order of receipt andonly if there are remaining scholarships available.

  • Continuing students must be enrolled full-time in coursework (minimum 6 units) at Pacifica Graduate Institute by August 1, 2008.
  • All applicants must submit the following supporting documentation with their application to be received by The Eleos Foundation no later than August 1, 2008:
    • An essay (500 word maximum): Articulate your intention to conduct some form of socially responsible work (i.e., research, teaching, provision of mental health services) in your country of origin upon completion of your degree. Specify how the Scholarship will help you realize this goal.
    • Resume
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Supporting documentation as indicated on application

A Scholarship Review and Application Committee will review your Scholarship application materials. Recipients will be selected based on their application materials with preference being given to high financial need, academic merit and the content of the essay. Applicants will be notified of their status in writing by August 31, 2008.
